Apple Inc. takes top Business Journals brand excellence honor

Apple Inc. and five other companies received American Brand Excellence Awards from City Business Journals Network.
The companies were chosen by more than 1,700 business owners and managers of small and midsize firms who participated in CBJN's annual proprietary study as the brands that best meet the needs of their businesses.
CBJN, an organization of 66 newspapers across the country, is a subsidiary of Tampa Bay Business Journal parent Amercian City Business Journals.
Apple Inc., which won the technology category, was also named the grand prize winner. Other winners are:
UPS in the Business Services category.
MasterCard in the Financial/Insurance category.
Staples in the Retail category.
Verizon in the Telecommunications category.
Southwest in the Travel category.
The criteria used to select the American Brand Excellence Award winners include "easy to do business with," "industry leader," "forward thinking," "for growing companies," "behaves ethically," "growing in popularity" and "has a good price for what you get." More than 200 business brands were rated in the nationwide study.
"What makes the American Brand Excellence Awards unique is that they represent how business owners and managers feel about the companies that support their businesses and help them grow," said CBJN President George M. Conley. "This year's winners are true leaders in their fields."
